I am a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science speicialized in Human-Computer Intearction
at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am advised by Dr. Karrie Karahalios,
as part of the Social Spaces Group. I received my M.S. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology where I worked with Dr. Gregory Abowd and Dr. Rosa Arriaga. I did my undergraduate study at Soongsil University in Seoul, South Korea.
My research interest is in Human-Computer Interaction with a focus on Social Computing and Health Informatics.
I study how people use social software to resolve health-related difficulties. Using qualitative methods, social media data analytics, and visualizations, I design and develop the uses of social software. My current work particularly focuses on how patients and their supporters work together using social media and crowdfunding platforms to raise funds for patients' medical expenses.
